Snowman Holiday Decoration

Happy Holidays

Looking for creative decoration ideas for the holidays, or as a thoughtful gift to share for that someone special? Make this festive snowman holiday flower arrangement that will brighten up anyones day and their home. Here's a holiday season floral table centerpiece arrangement idea that is simple to make, an adds charm during the holiday or Christmas season.

With just a few supplies from your local craft store, this snowman holiday decoration can be put together 2 different ways. You can use real carnation flowers for the arrangement but typically, real carnations are difficult to find during the winter season. You can also use artificial silk flowers for Mr. Frosty that will still create an adorable splendor.

Whether you decide you want to make the snowman with real carnation flowers or choose to use artificial silk flowers will depend on if your looking to display the decoration arrangement for a couple of weeks, or if you want to bring him out and display ole Frosty for many years.

With real flowers you will want to use oasis foam, if you can find the foam in the size of balls you need for your size would be great, but if not, the blocked oasis will work just as well. When using artificial carnations, use styrofoam balls for the body.

Depending on the size of snowman you want, cut a block approx 4" x 6-8" for the bottom. Soak the foam into a bowl of water for a couple of minutes allowing it to soak up the water. Take the foam out, then start to pack like you are making a snowball for a round ball. Once you have formed the ball, place on a decorative holiday plate.

Repeat the for the next 2 balls but reduce the size of the foam when each are cut.

Once all 3 balls are formed, push a skewer stick down the center to keep the balls together making the body of the snowman.

Using 25-30 (depending on your size) regualr size carnations, cut the flowers down to 2"- 3". Starting at the lower portion of the ball, stick the stem into the foam. Overlapping the carnation slightly with each as you place into the oasis until you completely cover both the bottom and middle foam balls. Using 10-15 mini carnations, repeat the steps above to cover the top ball.

Using small tree branches from outside, place one on each side into the foam to create the arms of the snowman.

You can find the corn cobb pipe, Frosty's hat, his eyes and nose, the floral on his hat and belly and the scarf at your local craft store. On this snowman decoration, we knitted the scarf for around his neck.

The eyes are black cotton balls that are hot glued to a flower. The nose can be either a small fake carrot or the end of a real carrot, then using a piece of a skewer inserted into the carrot and into the foam ball. If you are making the snowman with artificial flowers, you will want to use a fake carrot that will last with out wilting.

Hot glue a small holiday flower on the side of his hat for the finishing touch on the creative snowman decoration idea.

The snowman makes a wonderful table centerpiece for a party during the holiday seaason. Add Holiday Party Favors for the guest adding some festive decorations to the table.
